Rockford Sportsman’s Club (RSC) will again host it’s annual NSSF Rimfire Challenge Michigan State Championship match on Saturday, 13-May-2017.

The NSSF Rimfire Challenge can provide individuals or families with a fun and exciting first-time competitive-shooting experience. Shooting ranges can utilize the concept as a Second Round component to NSSF’s First Shots program.”1 The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) Match schedules,and rules can be found at (www.nssf.org/Rimfire/)

2017 MATCH RESULTS

Rockford Sportsman’s Club hosted it’s Seventh Annual Michigan State Championship NSSF Rimfire Challenge on Saturday, 13-May. RSC welcomed Ninety-Six shooters who enjoyed great weather and lots of fellowship and competition.

Eight different states represented, with participants from as far away as Alabama and Iowa. Overall Match Winner (for the second consecutive year) was sixteen year old Mathieu Langston from Ohio, who fired about 230 rounds to complete the eight stage course in only 66.35 seconds. Congratulations Mathieu!

National and local companies as Ruger, Tandemkross, Hogue, Hi-Viz Sights, and Cabela’s donated over $5000 worth of door prizes that were given to participating shooters by random drawing. RSC will donate half of the net proceeds of this match to one or more U.S. Veterans groups. Past matches have resulted in donations of over $6500 to such groups.

2017 NSSF Rimfire Challenge Michigan State Championship – Saturday, May 13, 2017

Rockford Sportsman’s Club (RSC) – 11115 Northland Drive NE, Rockford, MI 49341

The RSC match includes 8 Stages – 4 Pistol, 4 Rifle. All Steel Targets, 200 Rounds (Minimum) “22 Long Rifle Rimfire Only”. Classes are Open and Limited, and Special Recognition Award categories include Adult Ladies, Senior Men (65+), Senior Ladies (65+), Juniors (13-16), Youth (12 and under), and Cowboy/Cowgirl (single action revolver/lever action rifle).

A side match is being explored, which can give shooters a chance to shoot more, and maybe win more! More details to come!

Door prizes will be awarded by random drawing, and will include several firearms and many other shooting related items. Plaques will be awarded for the top three finishers in Open and Limited Divisions and the top finisher in each Special Recognition category with at least three shooters.

Entry fees are: Adults $45, Senior $25, Junior and Youth $15. Lunch (hamburgs, hot dogs) is included in the shoot fee, and will be served from 11:30-12:30. Special Needs shooters will be accommodated to the degree possible. Please indicate on the entry form if you have special needs or are a new NSSF shooter.

The Match is limited to the first 96 registrants. Match volunteer workers who pay the full entry fee may also participate in the match and receive awards or prizes.

Limited quantities of .22 rimfire ammo will be available for sale to participants on the day of the match. Pricing will be as favorable as possible. Please advise below or on electronic form if you need or are interested in purchasing ammo. Priority will be given to those who need to buy ammo to shoot the match.

A portion of the match proceeds will be donated to one or more U.S. Veteran’s group(s), such as Honored American Veterans Afield (HAVA), Grand Rapids Veteran’s Home, and/or others.

Manual entries can also be made by sending a filled-out hard copy of the 2017 NSSF Rimfire Challenge Flyer for each shooter, plus a check for entry fees payable to the “Rockford Sportsman’s Club”.

Day-of-Match sign-in will begin at 8:00A. Shooters must arrive at least 1 hour before their start time to allow for sign-in and safety briefing. During sign-in, all shooters must sign a RSC Liability & Photo Waiver, and minor shooters (under 18) must have a signed parent/guardian consent form. Squadding will be done at time of sign-in, so please advise the registrar if you wish to be squadded with another shooter.
